Technology Cover

Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd announced the launch of 1.6Tb OSFP-XD HiWire CLOS active cable (AEC). The cable can be up to 2.75 meters long, thin and compact, and can support the dense ridge switching requirements of the new generation of large-scale data centers.

Don Barnetson, Vice President of Credo Active Cable Products, said: "OSFP-XD represents the crystallization of 18 months of extensive industry cooperation to support a new generation 51.2Tbps switch with 1U overall dimensions. This 1.6Tbps AEC provides higher performance, excellent energy efficiency, and its power is less than 20W. By using a mature low-cost 12nm process, we have achieved our goal while reducing cost and increasing density. This is a revolutionary product for customers."

Alan Weckel, founder and technical analyst of 650 Group, said: "Credo has obviously been in the leading position in the AEC field. We predict that as super large system manufacturers continue to gain profits through cloud deployment, enterprises and service providers, AEC will rapidly replace the direct copper cable. Due to the continuous improvement of server speed, applications such as artificial intelligence and machine learning will promote the popularization of AEC to support the data exchange from the server to the top of the rack, while products such as 1.6Tbps OSFP-XD AEC will promote the new data Heart building. "

1.6Tbps OSFP-XD AEC supports 16 bidirectional 112Gbps channels, and each end has an industry standard accessory unit interface (AUI). It supports cables up to 2.75 meters long and uses a compact 32AWG cable to connect both ends, which is smaller than two Cat6e cables. The power consumed at each end of the OSFP-XD AEC is less than 20W, providing the most reliable and lowest power interconnection for distributed decomposition racks (DDCs) and other in rack applications.
