Maxim integrated MAX20,079 36V buck converter is a small, automotive level synchronous buck converter with integrated high side and low side switches. The device is designed to use only 3.5 at no load under the input voltage of+3V to+36V μ A static current, output up to 3.5A. The MAX20079 provides an accurate output voltage of ± 2% within the normal operating input range of+6V to+18V.
Simplified block diagram
The converter has a minimum on-time capability of 65ns and can achieve a large input/output conversion ratio. The voltage quality can be monitored by observing the PGOOD signal. The MAX20079 can operate at 99% duty cycle, making it an ideal choice for automotive and industrial applications. The IC provides standard components with a fixed output voltage of 3.3V and 5V.
In addition, Maxim Integrated MAX20079 can be configured to use an external resistance voltage divider for output voltages from 3V to 12V. The frequency is internally fixed at 2.1MHz, which allows small external components to reduce output ripple and ensure no AM interference. The 400kHz option also provides minimum switching loss and maximum efficiency. MAX20079 automatically enters the skip mode under light load, and the ultra-low static current is 3.5 under no load μ A。 It provides pins to enable spread spectrum frequency modulation, aiming to reduce electromagnetic radiation emissions caused by modulation frequency. The MAX20079 is packaged in a small 4mm x 4mm 20 pin SW-TQFN package with few external components. The result of intelligent packaging layout is an extremely low noise solution with superior EMI performance.
