Monolithic Power Systems 3-phase brushless DC motor drivers for core source systems

MP6540 and MP6540A are three-phase brushless DC motor drivers, which integrate three half bridges and are composed of six n-channel power mosfets, pre drive, gate drive power supply and current sensing amplifier. The MP6540 has enable and PWM inputs for each half bridge. The MP6540A has independent high side and low side inputs; Otherwise, the two parts are the same. Unless otherwise specified, the reference of MP6540 also applies to MP6540A.

Typical application

The MP6540 can provide a peak current of up to 10A in one second, and continuously provide 3A (depending on thermal and PCB conditions). The MP6540 uses an internal charge pump to generate a grid drive power supply voltage for the high side mosfet, and uses a trickle charging circuit to maintain sufficient grid drive voltage at 100% duty cycle. Internal safety functions include thermal shutdown, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and over-current protection (OCP). The MP6540 is provided with QFN-26 (5.0mmx5.0mm) package.
